I’m settling into what is going to be my biggest reading year ever (at least since I was a kid and flew through books in the car on the way home from the library) and I’m currently reading my 51st and 52nd (!!!) books of the year, which feels wild.
But let’s back up.
I recapped my January reads and my February reads and then got behind, so here’s to catching up!
In March and April I read 18 books. These are my five-star books:
Maame by Jessica George - beautiful + smart with themes of coming into adulthood, familial obligations, friendship. Loved it.
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus - just a delight from start to finish with a great protagonist
Ghosts by Dolly Alderton - her newer book Good Material made my five-star list for January, and Ghosts was also so funny and relatable.
Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy - Highly anticipated and didn’t disappoint, another climate fiction about a family of caretakers for a remote island and the world’s largest seed bank.
Sandwich by Catherine Newman - Couldn’t choose between laughing or crying throughout the whole book. Motherhood, aging, secrets. Loved it so much.
Shark Heart: A Love Story by Emily Habeck - A weird premise and such a lovely story of love and loss.
Other books I read in March and April:
Mozart’s Starling by Lyanda Lynn Haupt
Someone Always Nearby by Susan Wittig Albert
Women Living Deliciously by Florence Given
Blood Test by Charles Baxter
The Wedding People by Alison Espach
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell
The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo
Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins
How to Win at Travel by Brian Kelly
Devotions by Mary Oliver
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder
I have a lot of great books on the docket for May and the rest of the summer, and I cannot wait to dive in to these:
I Hope You Remember by Josie Balka
The Nature of Oaks by Douglas Tallamy
Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir - on audio!
Happy reading, everyone!
How do you read so many books so fast? What technique do you use? What do you do with all that input?
I listened to Project Hail Mary on audio and it was amazing! I never thought I’d cry at a sci-fi type book, but wow. I can’t even imagine reading this book instead of listening. There’s so much “melodic” speech. 😆
